Umm...

I was going to write a post about how I used Dork Mag as a resource for my research paper, "You're Not Wanted: Disenfranchisement Then and Now, With an Emphasis on Gentrification." Then I saw this Mic Terror video:

Save Internet Radio!!!

Got this in the post the other day:

pandora_logo_email.jpg

Hi, it's Tim from Pandora,

I'm writing today to ask for your help. The survival of Pandora and all of Internet radio is in jeopardy because of a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC to almost triple the licensing fees for Internet radio sites like Pandora. The new royalty rates are irrationally high, more than four times what satellite radio pays, and broadcast radio doesn't pay these at all. Left unchanged, these new royalties will kill every Internet radio site, including Pandora.

In response to these new and unfair fees, we have formed the SaveNetRadio Coalition, a group that includes listeners, artists, labels and webcasters. I hope that you will consider joining us.

Please sign our petition urging your Congressional representative to act to save Internet radio: http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/issues/alert/?alertid=9631541

Please feel free to forward this link/email to your friends - the more petitioners we can get, the better.

Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I'm no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster's business potential.

I hope you'll take just a few minutes to sign our petition - it WILL make a difference. As a young industry, we do not have the lobbying power of the RIAA. You, our listeners, are by far our biggest and most influential allies.

As always, and now more than ever, thank you for your support.

Answers will come

"We just want to become more informed and in the process help to inform others about the various creative entrepreneurial opportunities that exist. We operate on the idea of information. One of the questions we continously ask ourselves is: how can we continue to develop an open subculture of mutual respect if information is not freely disseminated to all interested parties?"

^That stroke of genius is my own!!!

Much thanks to sherm for this dope picture. Titled Pensive Nude.

Yo!!! Im back...but

I just lost this very complicated essay about the ambiguity of evil in Apocalypse Now. So yeah... Anyways if you've got a chance go check out Go Dav. We've always been fans of hyphy and Go Dav is one of our favorite groups doing it right now. Their music is bubbly and infectious (nice talk for superficial and repetitive) and has a good little swagger going for it. Check em out.

Banksy Vs. Shephard Fairey

Everyone simply must read this essay "Art, Money, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and the Quest for Clarity" or, "Adventures in Art Market Comparison and Analysis' By Alan Bamberger". This has to be the most uninteresting and overly analyzed essay I've ever read in my two lives. So go read it and you'll see that there are blog postings worst than ours out there.

My fault!!!

Like we've been telling you people, it's great to see some of the brands you love get picked up and taken to the next level. Weekly drop apparently may (or may not) get picked up by Shade 45. This is good news to almost everyone who's been around from the very get go of the show. They've been on their grind since episode eight when Bobby Hundreds said (mocking Lupe Fiasco) "Bobby Hundreds is a hater!!!" They've got the dope interviews and killer soundbites so check em out and stop wasting time around here.

I wanted to write too much. Everything that could have went wrong went wrong. We had a tornado. The internet was down. I think I have a virus. I'm disk De-Fragmenting now. I realized I better learn Web Dev to get a job in this industry. Saw it on Riottt. By the way don't buy the new Evil Monito cap, they've got bad customer service. I waited till 2:17am to buy the evil monito X fitted new era, It was supposed to come out at 12:00. It didn't show up till 5pm the next day so I didn't buy it. I realized a link to it would defeat the purpose so find it yourself. Christian Dior is falling apart. Designer fired, designer dead, V.P arrested. I started the next issue. But I'm still delivering the first issue. I argued. I fought. The theme is Industrial Sabotage. We've got new team members. I'll introduce them later. We look forward to big things.

Wow

I've never really been impressed with anybody more so than I am of Dork Mag. If you're reading this and you haven't yet checked out Dork, then you're doing something wrong. Their magazine is on point. Check their articles, look at their interview roster. They're doing their thing. And their blog! I think at this point they've stopped really putting out the magazine for the most part and have concentrated on bringing you some of the dopest, off the wall blog postings in the history of the universe. They scour the web and are able to bring you some of the best postings about Subway Design in Stockholm, Sweden, and updates on Kanye's New Apartment. And just recently, I peeped their Rootdown audio show. Ken Peebles is on his grind. This sh*t is just smooth, refreshing hip-hop. I can't even go on, just notice this is my longest blog posting ever... I know that's a shame, but it really says something about his talents. Check out Rootdown #6, #5, and #4.

Wanted You To Know

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you'd better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens
And keep your eyes open, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon, the wheel's still in spin
And there's no telling who that it's naming
Oh the loser will be later to win
For the times, they are a changing

Come senators, congressmen, please head the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled
The battle outside ragging will soon shake your windows
And rattle your hall
For the times, they are a changing

Come mothers and fathers all over this land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughter are beyond your command
Your old role is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand
For the times they are a changing

The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one will later be fast
And the present now will soon be the past
The order is rapidly fading
The first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a changing
